Where Are You Spring?

Hello My Lavender Loving Friends, We miss you and hope you've been well. So today is the First Day of Spring, but it sure doesn't feel like it as we brace for our third nor’easters!! This HAS to be the last one right?!?! We set a re-opening date of Friday, April 20. However, this latest storm may put us behind schedule, so stay tuned for the official announcement of our re-opening day of the 2018 Season. Our hours will continue to be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Lavender Farm Stand will be stocked with all your favorite handmade artisan lavender products as well as some new products that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.

We’ve been super busy during the off season with projects, R&D and making plans for the 2018 Season. Here are a few highlights: We’re thrilled and honored to share that Vibha Rana, Founder of Green Tulip Health & Wellness will once again be joining us this season to offer her amazing services. Dates coming soon. We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Stan Cohen, Founder of Chi For Living. Stan will be offering a series of Qigong Classes here at our farm starting with a complimentary one hour Qigong Introductory Workshop. Qigong (pronounced ‘chee kung’) is a form of gentle exercise geared toward improving internal and external health. It is composed of movements that are repeated a number of times, stretching the body, benefiting the respiratory and circulation systems and increasing energy flow through the internal organs, while building awareness of how the body moves through space. Qigong is often called moving meditation due to the concentration and focus on breath and movement which calms the racing mind most of us deal with on a daily basis. Similar in effect to Yoga, Qigong differs in that we move or flow through positions instead of holding each individual pose. The movements are done standing and can be modified for sitting. Anyone can do Qigong, regardless of age or physical condition, making modifications as needed for individual capabilities. Qigong is a wonderful art, and one that you will feel from your first exposure just how beneficial a practice it truly is. We invite you to join us for a complimentary one hour Qigong Introductory Workshop on Friday, April 27, starting at 6:00 p.m. Space is limited. Please reserve your spot by contacting Stan at chiman@chiforliving.com. We’re also happy to announce a Mother’s Day Garden Craft Event to be held here on Saturday, May 12 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. hosted by Black Butterfly Painting Studio. Click here to register. A number of you have asked for Yoga in the Field. Stay tuned for those announcements as well. We've been working hard organizing a few special events that we hope you'll enjoy. More information will be available soon.

Jim has been busy working on the new patio area adjacent to the Pergola which will be used for various events including wedding ceremonies. He also broke ground for the new addition to the Summer Kitchen aka The Little Cottage. Mother Nature has delayed the completion of these projects but those of you who know Jim, know he’ll get it done! We’re looking forward to growing The City Girl Flock with the arrival of our new chicks this June which means more eggs and of course, I’m going to need help naming the new fluffy babies!! As most of you know, I love supporting local businesses and especially women entrepreneurs. If you or someone you know is an artisan who creates aromatherapy jewelry or unique home décor and accessories please reach out to me via email at monica@orchardviewlavenderfarm.com.

This beautiful photo was taken by one of my favorite photographers, Caroline Baptista of Newport Babies Photography. Caroline is not only extremely talented, she is wonderful to work with and I highly recommend her. Looking at this photo has me longing to be in the field again. I love how she captures the dreaminess of the farm. It truly is an enchanting oasis where you can feel life's stresses melt away as you arrive. If you haven’t already done so, I strongly recommend that you like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram as that will ensure you don’t miss any news. One of my goals this year is to be better about sending out a monthly newsletters but I can’t promise that I will *sigh* Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Jim & Monica
